New technology that allows a minor to commit cash payments using a mobile phone, will be widely distributed until 2012. Around this year, one out of five cell will support this function. Consumers can use the mobile phone as an electronic wallet, just enough to hold the device housing the wireless reader. You may need to enter a special PIN code on the phone - it will depend on the store and the purchase amount.
The technology worked out and fully ready for use. The Finnish company Nokia has already released four phone that fully support this method of payment. However, the limited use and high financial costs inhibit the growth of demand for the service.
According to Jukka Syuykanena (Jukka Suikkanen), head of research department of telecommunications operator TeliaSonera, service will be profitable when it reaches the 20% level, which is a critical mark. The research agency Strategy Analytics and ABI Research found that 20% penetration of the technology will reach around 2012.
